Vice president of engineering
Soramitsu
Soramitsu is looking for a talented Vice President of Engineering to join our team.
You will report directly to the CEO and have relevant experience in both enterprise software and financial applications - with bonus points if you're familiar with crypto & blockchain concepts. Java, C++, and Rust familiarity is ideal, though your ability to adapt and learn what is specifically needed on a project-by-project basis is more important.
Your responsibilities will generally involve providing leadership to our project & product teams, and driving software engineering processes.
To be successful in this role, you will be able to work efficiently in a distributed environment with different teams and cultures across Europe and Asia. You will have excellent leadership and communication skills to successfully provide guidance to your teams, and you will have a vast knowledge of current best practices in software engineering and fintech applications.
VP of Engineering Responsibilities:
- Staying updated with the company's projects and status of each, as well as the IT resources dedicated to each
- Planning and execution of technical resource allocation to meet priorities and deadlines across our projects
- Liaising with other non-technical teams to align objectives company-wide
- Contribution to the technical aspects of the overall company strategy
- Creation of technology standards and processes to be adhered to within the company
- Hands on software development to fill resource gaps when needed (Java, C++, Rust primarily)
- Organization and reporting of progress, issues, and needs on a daily/weekly basis
- Managing, hiring, and training of IT managers (project/tech leads)
- Writing project proposals and supporting documentation
- Architecting new products & projects based on requirements provided by clients and/or product teams
VP of Engineering Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science. Or provable equivalent real world / self-taught experience.
- Experience and understanding in open source software is a plus
- Proven ability to adapt and deal with the hectic environment of a tech startup
- More than 5 years proven experience in fintech software development roles preferred.
- Excellent analytical and leadership skills with the ability to conduct research and analysis.
- Excellent communication skills (in English).
- A drive to create the best, most secure, and most beautiful code -- resulting in the best, most secure & beautiful products
- Exceptional knowledge of software development techniques and management/planning platforms such as Aha, Jira, Confluence, GitHub, etc
- Experience and a broad understanding of the crypto/blockchain markets and communities over the past few years is a huge plus.
- Knowledge of current technology trends and how they could/should apply to our projects
Compensation
